Sharing the Wheel of Consent

Thank you for asking about sharing the Wheel of Consent ā€“ I am thrilled that so many people are finding it useful. Itā€™s gone around the world ahead of me!

Below ā€“ a letter from me about that, and this video. Thanks!

Thank you for asking about sharing the Wheel of Consent. I really appreciate the respect of being asked about it. Turns out there are quite a few people asking about it these days ā€“ hence this letter.

Iā€™m thrilled that people are finding it useful, and itā€™s traveled around the world ahead of me. Iā€™m running along behind trying to keep up!

Hereā€™s what Iā€™d like you to know:

1 ā€“ The videos and such on the website are free for a reason ā€“ I want people to have them! So yes, please feel free to share what you are learning.

2 ā€“ Many people have taken what they are learning about the Wheel and are adding it to whatever else they are teaching or working with. This is great!

3 ā€“ If you do that, please use these hand-outs (free to download). That way I can be confident that weā€™re on the same page and they have the real thing.

Please do not:

Do not use the name ā€˜Wheel of Consentā€™ in the TITLE of your workshop. That name is trademarked and is available to be used only by Certified Facilitators. This is how we can be assured that the content is up to our standards. Instead, use a name like Learning to Touch, or The Four Kinds of Touch, or Touch and Consent, or Exquisite Touch, or something like that.

Do not promote yourself as a teacher of the Wheel of Consent, especially not to practitioners. There is much more to learn there. Sharing it in a few hours workshop is one thing. Claiming to teach practitioners for a few days is quite another.

Please don't re-design the Wheel graphics. If you have a suggestion, please contact us and let's talk!

Please do:

If you have not taken Like a Pro, include this in your workshop description:
This workshop is influenced and inspired by the Wheel of ConsentĀ® as developed by Dr. Betty Martin. I am interested in the Wheel, but I have not studied with Betty or the School of Consent. For more information visit www.schoolofconsent.org.

If you have taken Like a Pro, please use this statement:
This workshop is influenced and inspired by the Wheel of ConsentĀ® as developed by Dr. Betty Martin. I have trained with the School of Consent, but I am not a certified facilitator. For more information visitĀ www.schoolofconsent.org.

And finally ā€“ Come take the class! That way we can be sure it clicks for you and that you understand it well. Weā€™re doing our best to develop some distance-learning options to supplement our in-person trainings.

Hereā€™s the calendar of whatā€™s coming up: https://www.schoolofconsent.org/calendar

Again, I am thrilled that you find the ideas useful, and Iā€™m very happy that you are sharing it. And thank you for the respect of asking.

Please keep in touch with how itā€™s going, and I look forward to meeting.

Betty
